Not My King 2022
50/50 blend of Pinotin and Germanic clone Pinot Noir. Crush destemmed and given 18 hours maceration. Indigenous ferment in old 225L 10th use oak barrels.
549 bottles made. Small pre-bottling SO2 addition.
Some Mondays is my wine making project. This is it’s first release.
For my first wine I really wanted to work with PIWI varieties. I think they should play a large part in the future of every day wine as they can be easily farmed organically with very little need for spraying against the mildews (currently causing chaos across Bordeaux).
It was with this in mind that I decided to make a dark rose, it’s a category that is currently a little bit unknown. As such I don’t have to deal with the inevitable comparisons to existing wines. I think this gives a certain freedom to pursue deliciousness without having to hew too closely to any existing stylistic rules.
Not my king will be £25 a bottle. Shipping will be £7.50 for 3 or fewer bottles, £10 for 3-12.
